Spontaneous fMRI signals provide a valuable window into human brain functional organization. Recent work has also demonstrated the ability to extract information about dynamic internal states from fMRI. In this talk, I will discuss our work on using multimodal functional imaging to detect and investigate ongoing changes in alertness and autonomic physiology with fMRI.
